Her role for the character of The Theory of Everything earned her an Oscar nomination for her first time. Jones' portrayal as Stephen Hawking's wife in the biopic based on the author's life, was well-received both by viewers and critics. Inferno was the following film she appeared in with Tom Hanks. It was the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles presented Jones her the British Artist of the Year in 2016 for her remarkable talent and contribution to film.
